Korean home cooking, one meal at a time.

Banchan & Sides

Tteokbokki, hotteok and vegetable pancakes
Korean sauces, rice and anchovy kelp stock

Banchan are the small dishes that make a rice-centered meal varied and satisfying. Seasoned spinach and soybean sprouts bring vegetables to the table, while gyeran mari adds egg. One or two sides are enough for an everyday meal. Prepare and chill them in clean containers, then serve modest portions alongside a main dish or soup.

Choose a side by its main ingredient and the equipment you have. Individual recipes explain blanching, draining, seasoning and storage; check soy, sesame and egg ingredients for allergens. The sample recipes are held as drafts until their quantities and timing are validated.
